Shipping Technician

Homestead Cabinets is hiring for a shipping technician position. Homestead represents a refreshing, new way of thinking and of doing business. The typical hours for this shift are 6:30 am - 3:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional overtime required.

About the Role

As a shipping technician, you'll perform various tasks, including labeling parts and cabinets, wrapping cabinets with appropriate color coded stretch wrap, loading trucks, and searching for ways to help improve the shipping process. You'll inspect parts and cabinets in order to identify potential damage. You will also move cabinets or parts with a and truck when transferring them to the staging area.

Requirements

• Ability to frequently move, lift, carry, push, or pull weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted and occasionally lift/move items greater than 50 lbs. with assistance
• Frequently climb stairs and ladders
• Ability to continuously stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a dusty environment
• Ability to work in a noisy environment
• Frequently use fingers or hands to grasp, clamp, move, and handle objects
• Frequently squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, turn, pivot, and reach
• Good communication and team work skills
• Attention to detail
• Curiosity and a desire to learn

Responsibilities 

• Read and follow work procedures and schematics
• Maintain daily production output
• Participate in quality control inspections
• Inspect in-process & finished product
• Assist in other departments when needed
• Read job paperwork, measurements, and dealer or designer requests as well as identify cabinet material, edge banding, finish and parts
• Perform inspection and packaging operations and various tasks following the Homestead procedures, work instructions, and process aid sheets
• Wrap cabinets
• Move cabinets to staging area and load cabinets on trucks

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently move, lift, carry, push, or pull weight up to 75 lbs. unassisted and occasionally lift/move items greater than 75 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to continuously stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to work in a noisy environment
• Ability to work in a dusty environment
